Yes, I have fallen behind. I blame work and the big huge program we’re putting on every day this month. There were also some other things that cropped up that I wasn’t sure I wanted to talk about yet (even though I took the illustrative pictures), but have now decided to talk about them. Why don’t I vague that up a little bit for you: Stuff happened on the sly, and I am now in a position to talk about stuff. Also: things.
Here we go, the past two weeks:
My knitting patterns, semi-organized by basic type. The hat on the left might want to become a baby hat for a friend, and the scarf on the right wants to be my scarf, knit in Malabrigo Glazed Carrot. I’m trying to find a leaf-based pattern for a hat (adult sized) and can’t find anything that matches the hat in my brain. I may have to make it up, which is a lovely thought but one that will have to wait until November, or possibly March.
I’m not pregnant. This is a picture of ultrasound images taken of my insides, specifically my ovaries. I have a cyst on my right ovary that was diagnosed back in May, and when I had my most recent set of ultrasounds, on Tuesday September 29th, the little bugger had grown. It’s not very large, but because it’s a complex ovarian cyst they’re more concerned about it than they would be if it were a simple cyst. I have no idea what kind of sub-category mine falls into. Anyway, because it got bigger I was referred to a surgeon (on Thursday the 1st of October, which is partly why there’s no picture for that day) and I’m going to have it taken out. There you go.
On Wednesday we had our Big Read kickoff event at the Ellwood House in DeKalb, which is so freaking cool. I was setting up the sound system (with NinjaHusband’s help over the phone — thanks dude!) on the terrace, and found these lamps to be delightfully pretty. I took several more pictures of that event, but I like this one as the least Big-Read-involved.

No picture available — this would be (1) because The Big Read started the day before and my world suddenly contracted into WORK and eat-sleep, and (2) because I got the news about the cyst having grown on Thursday, and lots of mental energy was put into not losing my grip at work, and then going to the new doctor’s office that afternoon.

On Saturday we went to Madison to visit our friends Margaret and Wade and Jason. This is NinjaHusband being extremely fast while working the heavy bag in Margaret&Wade’s garage. I took a bunch of pictures in the low light with no flash while N and Wade took turns punching (Wade) and kicking (N) the bag, and they all turned out pretty well, in that artsy-no-flash kind of blurry way. I wanted to add Wade to my list of people featured on my Project 365, but he was too quick for me and I didn’t get many good shots of him.
On the drive home, on Sunday afternoon. Seriously, I really really like this picture.
Monday night laundry. There is nothing interesting to say about this picture. There was some controversy on Monday morning about the whereabouts of N’s t-shirts as he was trying to get dressed for work, and as he was pretty sick that day I decided to do some laundry for him.
Tuesday sky. Whee!
On Wednesday it was clear to me that fall has arrived. I like the fall-summer combination here.
Yes. I saw this sign in the course of my errands that day and was intrigued.
Friday night was Game Night at our friends’ house, and after an excellent meal we played Cranium (which was after Sequence, which was after the wine) and the guys won. Riley is holding up the card that says “Flyswatter” because no one could figure out what Mike was trying to draw. Excellent good times.
On Saturday night NinjaHusband and I played Guitar Hero, and it was awesome. I keep forgetting how much I like that game, and the fact that we have it.
Looking up at the ivy on the wall, walking into the lower level entrance at the library. That’s a pretty neat perspective.
That’s all for now. I hope I can find some time to write a post that’s not just about the Project 365. Maybe later this week. Maybe.

I’m sorry to hear about the cyst and the need for removal. I am also curious about where that sign was at – gas station? Drycleaners?
Hang in there – the month is halfway over!
Hugs, Carolyn
The “Free Bags – Ask Me How!” sign was at Swanson Vacuum on 23. It just struck me as incredibly weird.
I need a vacation, but can’t even get my head out of October to look at November weekends. argh.
